Wojciech Szczesny insists he and his family are happy at Barcelona despite not having had the chance to play.
Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has denied reports he is unhappy at Barcelona, having yet to play a single game since signing for the Blaugrana, he told Eleven Sports on Friday.
‘You know, I don’t know yet (when my debut will take place). I told you from the beginning that I have to be fit first and foremost and that’s the most important thing. Now I feel ready, both physically and mentally, to play.’
‘But I know that if I was the coach of this club, I would play the same number of games that I have played so far, so it is difficult to be disappointed with this situation because I agree 100 per cent,’ Cech said.
The 34-year-old also addressed claims that he and his family are unhappy with the current situation, saying: ‘You know, I don’t think there’s any point in answering that question. My family is very happy and my family is the main reason why we decided to go to Barcelona.’
‘My wife and son are both very excited to move here. All of us as a family feel very comfortable here. My son is very happy at his school. He has a lot of friends here and so are we. We are very happy overall.’
Szczesny also confirmed that he has Inaki Peña’s full backing, telling Hansi Flick to stand by him: ‘What did Hansi Flick tell me? He didn’t tell me anything. We spoke a lot, when the team was in a difficult moment and the media was putting pressure on us. I’m the first to say that Inaki Peña deserves full trust. ‘
‘I still have a slightly different Promotion ufabet perspective. As someone who has played professionally, I think I can assess things more objectively.’
‘Will I play a game until the end of the season? I will play. Take it easy.’
Szczesny also spoke about his first experience of El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, saying: ‘It was great, it was a beautiful experience. I experienced it as part of Barcelona, it was a great experience and it put a smile on my face. I might have exaggerated a bit after the game. ‘
